Ruth Gillson
Ruth has taken stills for National Film Board documentaries, including ‘A Joy of Singing’ (1983), about Claude Corbeil and Maureen Forrester teaching master classes in China. Her photographs have also appeared in NFB promotional material and magazines. Recently, Ruth has shown her work at the Riverdale Art Walk, Scarborough Arts Council Art in the Park, Hang Man Gallery, the AWOL Square Foot, the Little Art Show and the Dominion on Queen.

ARTIST STATEMENT
As a photographer I see our environment in terms of lights and darks, shadows and contrasts. I’m driven by the challenge of capturing and defining the image. The starkness, the elements and the exposure are the wholeness of the pictures.
